It is the beginning of the collect season. It is that time when individuals offer supplications and on account of God for the yields previously collecting them. The celebration of Lohri celebrates only this. Celebrated with massive excitement in Punjab, this celebration is a day of thanksgiving for agriculturists. Lohri is accepted to the longest night of the year as per the Lunar schedule.

It is an event to praise the collect of rabi crops, those which are sown in winter. So the feature of this celebration is winter nourishments like sarson (mustard leaves), sesame, entire wheat and spinach. Til (sesame) and rorhi (jaggery) are eaten as conventional sustenances. The words til and rorhi together make 'tilorhi', and in the end got rechristened to Lohri, it is accepted.

Campfire is a vital piece of this celebration. It symbolizes Agni, the God of Fire. Individuals accumulate around the blaze, sing melodies and toss in nourishments like gajak, chikki, puffed rice, popcorn, rewri, sesame seeds, jaggery, peanuts and sugarcane to pay respect to roots. As a component of the merriments, supper is served after the campfire custom. The supper regularly incorporates 'Sarson ka Saag and Makki ki Roti', a Punjabi winter treat cherished wherever on the planet.

COMMENTSAccording to legends, the blazes of the fire are known to convey messages to the sun which is the reason the day after Lohri is warm and radiant bringing a conclusion to "miserable" winter days.
